Mask testing and its standards

Nowadays, masks have become one of the necessary items for people to go out. It can be predicted that the increase in market demand means that the production capacity of masks will increase, and the manufacturers will also increase. Mask quality testing has become a common concern.

Testing of medical protective masks The testing standard is GB 19083-2010 technical Requirements for Medical Protective Masks. The main testing items include basic requirements testing, bonding, nose clip testing, mask band testing, filtration efficiency, airflow resistance testing, synthetic blood penetration testing, surface moisture resistance testing, ethylene oxide residue, flame retardant performance testing, skin irritation performance testing, microbial testing indicators, etc. The microbial detection items mainly include total number of bacterial colonies, coliforms, pseudomonas aeruginosa, Staphylococcus aureus, hemolytic streptococcus, total number of fungal colonies and other indicators.

Normal protective mask testing The testing standard is GB/T 32610-2016 Technical Specification for Daily Protective Masks. The detection items mainly include basic requirements detection, appearance requirements detection, internal quality detection, filtering efficiency and protective effect. Inner quality testing of these projects are rubbing fastness, formaldehyde content, pH value, can decompose carcinogenic aromatic amine dyes content, epoxy ethane residues, inspiratory resistance, expiratory resistance, mask belt and fracture strength and the cover body link place, exhalation valve cover fastness, microbial fluid (coliform group and pathogenic bacteria, fungi colony total, total number of bacterial colonies).

Mask paper testing The detection standard is GB/T 22927-2008 Mask Paper. The main testing items include tightness, tensile strength, air permeability, longitudinal wet tensile strength, brightness, dust, fluorescent substances, delivered moisture, sanitary indicators, raw materials, appearance, etc.

Detection of disposable medical masks The test standard was YY/T 0969-2013 Disposable Medical Masks. The main test items included appearance, structure and size, nose clip, mask band, bacterial filtration efficiency, ventilation resistance, microbial indicators, ethylene oxide residue and biological evaluation. The microbial indexes mainly detected the total number of bacterial colonies, coliforms, pseudomonas aeruginosa, Staphylococcus aureus, hemolytic streptococcus and fungi. Biological evaluation items include cytotoxicity, skin irritation, delayed hypersensitivity reaction, etc.

Knitted mask testing The testing standard is FZ/T 73049-2014 Knitted Mask. The detection items mainly include appearance quality, internal quality, pH value, formaldehyde content, decomposition carcinogenic aromatic amine dye content, fiber content, color fastness to soap washing, water fastness, saliva fastness, friction fastness, sweat fastness, air permeability, odor, etc.

PM2.5 protective mask detection The detection standard was T/CTCA 1-2015 PM2.5 Protective Masks and TAJ 1001-2015 PM2.5 Protective Masks. The main detection items include apparent detection, formaldehyde, pH value, temperature and humidity pretreatment, ammonia dyes that can decomposable carcinogenic direction, microbial indicators, filtration efficiency, total leakage rate, respiratory resistance, mask lacing and main body connection, dead cavity, etc.
